This problem appears before harvesting is explained by several reasons.
From abundant irrigation, tomatoes crack, as they absorb moisture at a huge speed. The shell does not have time to stretch, as a result of which bursts from excess moisture. Most often it occurs at greenhouse plants, because due to elevated temperatures after irrigation, the soil dries quite quickly.

If your tomatoes grow in a greenhouse, then the reason can be in an unsuitable microclimate.
In such difficult conditions, tomatoes do not grow, and their peel acquires an increased density. When the fruits begin to grow again, the solid shell does not withstand, then the crack appears on the surface.
Inappropriate and untimely feeders are putting harmful to fruits - the tomatoes on bushes are also cracking. Let's figure out what is the right feeding:
- During the growth of tomatoes should be filled twice a month. Cut the feeder with watering. The most common in this period they need potassium. Exclude from the diet of nitrogen and phosphorus.
- See for the concentration of accused fertilizers. When feeding is unnecessarily saturated tomatoes often crack. In the greenhouse conditions, make a concentration lower than in open soil, since due to the increased humidity of the fertilizer absorbed much faster, and the culture will not have time to assimilate them.
- During the ripening of tomatoes, they need trace elements. If they are lacking in the soil, then the plants are twisted or yellowed leaves.
Do not rush to remove most of the side shoots and leaves. With this error, the bushes give all their moisture fruits, and from its excess the shell on tomatoes is cracking.

Fruits lose its freight form, they cannot be used for conservation. The main danger is that through emerging cracks can easily penetrate any infection that helps the formation of mold and increasing vegetable.So that it does not happen, you need to follow the rules of cultivation:
- The watering should be systematic: in a hot summer period - every three days, in cloudy weather - once a week. The best way is drip watering, which maintains a constant degree of moisture in the ground.
- Use mulching, it will protect the soil from drying out. Apply beveled grass, straw or any other materials.
- In hot time, ventilate the greenhouse. You can shake the bushes with a spunbond stretched near the roof.
- Buy seeds of grades resistant to cracking. The most popular are those like Vasilyevna and our Masha, as well as the varieties of favorite and Moscow region.
