At the CES exhibition, the GM concern announced several projects. One of the most unexpected has become a new business called Brightdrop. This is an "electric van ecosystem for delivering products to the end user" (the so-called "shoulder of the last kilometer").

The first product brightdrop will not be at all a car, but ... an electric cabinet, known as EP1. His release will begin in the near future. EP1 was designed to help move goods for short distances, for example, from the car to the client's entrance door.

The cabinet is calculated for 90 kg of cargo, and its capacity is approximately 650 liters. It has adjustable shelves, lockable doors and electric gearboxes that allow it to move at a speed of up to 5 km / h.

For EP1 follows the EV600 - a specially built cargo van. Detailed features were not declared, but GM confirmed that the EV600 would use their own Ultium's patented batteries and can drive on one charge to 400 km. The van will also support a quick charging of the DC with a capacity of 120 kW, which means that in just an hour of charging you can add up to 270 km of mileage.

The EV600 will have sliding "garage" doors, a wide passage from the cabin in the cargo compartment and more than 17 thousand liters of the cargo space. The driver is located a 13.4-inch screen of the multimedia system, and the safety system of the cargo space with motion sensors will enter the vehicle.

But this is not the only security system in the EV600. Even basic configurations will be able to boast automatic emergency braking systems, warnings about the frontal collision and braking before a pedestrian crossing. For traffic at night, automatic lights of IntelliBeam long beam will be responsible. There are already familiar assistance systems when holding a strip of movement with a warning about offset and assistance in parking, as well as an HD rear view camera.

GM says that interest in the EV600 at the exhibition was high, and the first vans will be delivered by FedEx by the end of the year. From the beginning of 2022, the van must be available for everyone.

Although electric cars are interesting, they are just part of the BrightDrop business. The company also plans to offer an "integrated cloud program platform, which provides customers with access to their BrightDrop products through web interfaces and mobile devices." Among the functions are the monitoring of the location in real time, as well as control of the battery and charging.

This is only the top of the iceberg because BrightDrop also explores a number of other concepts. These include the solution for transporting on average distances, which transports several EP1, as well as the means of "quick loading".

According to GM, by 2025, cumulative market opportunities for parcels, food delivery and return logistics in the United States will be more than 850 billion dollars.
