The shocked Koreans were indignant to the memo and began collecting signatures under the petition with the requirement to bring public apologies. The scandal came to the media and twitter and gained global scales.

Seoul authorities explained that the recommendations were copied from the site of the Ministry of Health of South Korea, which has already deleted its publication. All the dubious moments from the memo were removed by the information center, and the material itself disappeared.

In 2018, the Government of South Korea was also criticized for a similar sexist memo, but already for high school students. It was written there that girls need to follow their appearance, and male make money. In addition, the document said that men who spend a lot of money on dates expect some "compensation" for it.
