Hundreds of tests, thousands of simulations, temperatures from -35 to +90 degrees Celsius, monsoon rains and climbing alpine peaks. Each new Skoda model passes serious tests, which the company told on the example of a new generation Fabia hatchback.
The new Skoda Fabia fourth generation is characterized by a bright design, large cabin, high comfort and, thanks to advanced systems, even higher safety. But all this and about the technical characteristics of the novelty edition of Speedme.ru talked earlier. But about all the companies held tests became known for the first time.
Thus, for example, Czech hatchback passed a series of tests with a dynamometric stand, towed on the trailer. Using a dynamometer inside the trailer can change resistance, a felt car, in accordance with the settings entered by the technicians. The trailer can create an effort to 9 kN, and its dynamometer develops output power up to 150 kW.
But a towing stand is just one of the tools that Skoda uses to improve the efficiency of testing new cars. Today there are hundreds of tests, some physical, and other virtual.
"All these tests are an integral part of the car development. We must make that the models fit all the requirements for them, "says Pavel Kolait.
Tests of cars in harsh weather conditions - an integral part of the process. Although these tests remained mainly unchanged for many years, but a number of them have been refined, for example, in testing assistance systems, safety and electronic equipment of the car. This is due to the fact that these areas are becoming increasingly difficult, which places high demands on the development and testing of cars.
Stress testing is "Cherry on the cake" of development: it is preceded by many other tests aimed at certain parameters and components of the car. Car safety is one of the most stringent criteria for vehicles with each new generation. Here, real tests are also combined with computer simulation.
For this reason, the car and its various parts are subjected to a series of shock and crash tests. From the very beginning, computer simulation is used to design the surface parts of the body, such as, for example, the bumper and the hood, which are then tested with mannequins or "shock elements". The goal is to ensure the stability of the car when a collision with a person.
Thanks to all these tests, the new Skoda Fabia is one of the safest cars in its segment. In addition to compliance with all the requirements of the legislation, it also meets the strict criteria established by the independent Consumer Organization EURO-NCAP.
Recall, the new Skdoa Fabia will receive a choice of five efficient gasoline engines. Thanks to this, the Czech automaker has not only increased the number of different engines compared to the predecessor, but also significantly expanded the range of output power - from 65 hp. up to 150 hp than before. All five engines belong to the new generation of EVO Volkswagen Group. This makes a new Fabia by 10% more economical than its predecessor. Combined with an optional 50-liter tank, this gives a stroke of more than 950 km.
In addition, the car is equipped with a multitude of simply clever functions typical of the brand. A total of 13 new decisions debut in Fabia, five of which are the first on Skoda, as a result of which the total number of practical parts in the small car was brought to 43. The car received such branded accessories such as ice scraper on the fuel tank cover with tire protector depth meter and ticket holder on the front rack. The folding back of the front passenger seat, a multifunctional pocket for storing things under the lid of the trunk, an additional USB-C connector on the rear-view mirror and two pockets for storing smartphones on the backs of the front seats for the rear passengers.
