To return the leadership of the iPad Pro, and at the same time and order to the model range of the iPad, the Apple did not regret money (considerable), forces and time to develop an even more powerful chip. True, to turn them into laptops you have to spend decent money to purchase one of the keyboards with the trackpads built into them - the Magic Keyboard for the iPad from Apple or the keyboard from Logitech or Brydge. But the result is worth it.
Let formally devices "two-in-one" in the Apple model, there are still no, in fact, they already exist. The combination of the iPad and the Keyboard with the Trekpad is not even two-in-one, but three-in-one. When working with smart pencils, a special user interface is applied, for pencils also have to pay, and also a lot. With the role of the computer, they do not all well - but they have it all better and better. Apple A14X is required for this project. Apple A12x and Apple A12Z played an important role in preparing the MAC transition on Apple Silicon. Apple A14x has the same task in the project of the new iPad Pro. But all the same A14X is never M1. And if such a chip is still put in iPad Pro?
Mac applications can be run on iPad Pro
Serious software on iPad is not enough. Or even just a little. What limits its full use as a professional computer. Such programs are not transferred to the iPad due to insufficient performance iPad Pro 2018/2020 or iPad Air 4. For example, iPados did not even try to transfer Xcode - this is a software development environment for apple platforms. Until now, it was impossible.
But Apple A14X with the basic functions of Xcode and the most important tools will cope. On the iPad Pro with this chip, with a sufficient flash memory capacity, it would be quite possible to install Xcode Lite, for iPad. Xcode is very big and heavy - but other serious programs could be transferred completely and truly. Especially if Apple guess to develop "Catalyst on the contrary". But about it somehow another time.
Real multitasking in iPados
Implementation of multitasking in iPados leaves much to be desired. In recent years, it has become better, but truly turn around, does not depend on and not leading to the emergency shutdowns of the tablet, it does not give it insufficient chip power. I was convinced that so far the implementation of a full-fledged multitasking in public versions of systems simply does not include. As if everything was already developed, it works great (in skillful hands), but this smart system is very demanding to resources. The chip level M1, they say, would have coped with it. Real multitasking only on the iPad Pro of the last model? Let at least so.
Battery life iPad
In MacWorld, as a result of theoretical surveys, another advantage from increasing the power of chip was found: according to American colleagues, the charge of the iPad Pro batteries with chip, the same as M1, will not be enough for 10 hours, and for 15-20 hours. With MACs, this focus at M1 was a success. The battery running time in M1 MAC increased almost twice compared to Mac on Intel processors. So it can work with iPad Pro. A14X will not help here.
