FIA In the online mode, McLaren's oligation 9509_1

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to influence the formula 1. If the cancellation and transfers of the stages do not seem to be unusual, then the change due to the coronavirus such a standard procedure, as the oligation of the new chassis looks unusual.

McLaren Pierne Tinn Manufacturer told that MCL35M chassis oligation for the 2021 season has passed in online mode.

"The oligation of the chassis is one of the fundamental stages when creating a new car," says Pier. - For many, the team is not an easy and tense time. It reminds me of those times when my spouse gave birth to twins. The only difference is that we spend my oligation every year!

In fact, this time we turned out to be the only team who had to undergo oligation, since the rest in 2021 will use the 2020 chassis. We did not have such an opportunity as we made too much changes in the chassis because of the transition to Mercedes power plants.

As it happens every year, we have had certain problems this time, but the effective joint work of engineers and the manufacturing department has made an oligation on time in December. The procedure was not very different, but due to the limitations associated with coronavirus, FIA representatives could not physically attend the crash test. Instead, we have installed cameras everywhere, which in the online mode passed the FIA picture. As a result, they saw how we spent the test and carefully followed every step of this process.

While the rest of the teams will continue to use most of the nodes and aggregates of last year's cars this season, the transition to Mercedes engines does not leave us such an opportunity. In fact, we build a new car. The number of new components in MCL35M is almost the same as in MCL35.

With the transition to a new power plant, the rear of the chassis, the layout of the gearbox, the layout of the cooling system and all tubes for liquid and air ducts changed, was changed, all electronics and control units changed.
