The new discovery of scientists shows that the British strain SARS-COV-2 represents a threat not only for people, but also for pets. It became known that the dogs and cats from the United States and the UK found this type of strain.

The results of the survey of the animals showed the presence of a virus, which made a number of scientists talk about the new risk of coronavirus, which lies in the virus mutation in the body of animals, and then the transfer of new strains to people. Such changes may affect the determined situation with the pandemic, since it is extremely difficult to predict the consequences of such changes.

Specialists investigated only three dogs and eight cats. The selection was led by the symptoms of the disease, which are observed in most people. The reason for carrying out such studies was the participation of health problems in pets in America and the UK.

The virusologists had an idea to check part of animals for the presence of SARS-COV-2 and it turned out that their health guesses and the possibility of infection with one of the strains of coronavirus were correct.

Of 11 animals, only 3 individuals were infected with SARS-COV-2 strain, but another two were found antibodies that appear after getting rid of coronavirus. This happens with people healing from coronavirus.

Some experts from the world of science suggested that most of the animals are infected, then the disease passes without visible symptoms, so it is extremely difficult to track the infection. If people can take tests for the presence of coronavirus, then such a practice cannot be repeated with pets.

Scientists plan to continue to study mutations and identify the presence of animal-infected coronavirus, as this can help them in the study of mutations that occur in the body of animals.
