From March 12 to March 14, the XVI All-Russian open contest of young pianists was held in Nizhny Novgorod, the press service of the governor and the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region reported.

This year about 100 students of music schools and schools, students of music schools, colleges and universities participated in the competition.

At the site of the Nizhny Novgorod Music College named after MA Balakirev met pianists from 8 regions of the country: Moscow, Vladimir, Saratov, Yaroslavl, Ryazan, Lipetsk and Nizhny Novgorod regions, Altai Territory. Among the contestants were also guests from the United States of America (in absentia format). In addition to solo artists, chamber-instrumental ensembles participated in the competition.

The Jury of the XVI All-Russian Open Competition of Young Pianists was represented by professional musicians of leading educational institutions in Russia. The honored artist of the Russian Federation was the Chairman of the Jury, Professor of the Department of Special Piano of the Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatory named after M.I. Glinka Valery Older.

The winners of the competition in the nomination "solo execution" in various age categories were students of the children's musical department at the Nizhny Novgorod Music School named after M.A. Balakirev Daniel Abrosimov, Ekaterina Arkhipova, Artemy Pigalov and Polina Sedov, as well as a student of the Nizhny Novgorod Children's School of Arts No. 9 named after A.D. Smileyshie Sofya Erukhimova. In the nomination "Ensemble Performance" first place won students of the Nizhny Novgorod Music School named after MA Balakirev Irina Kolchugina and Pavel Abelevich, as well as students of the Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatory named after M.I. Glinka Alina Frolova and Daria Mahova.

"Competition is always a joyful event, it is always a step forward. The musician is engaged, it works on himself, he listens to himself, writes, acts at concerts and, regardless of whether he won or not, he personally won, because he took a step forward, showed his growth, "the member of the competition spoke Jury, laureate of international competitions, teacher Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. The competition ended with a gala concert of laureates and awarding young pianists in the Concert Hall of the Nizhny Novgorod Music School named after M.A. Balakirev.
