The President of Armenia made a statement about the application for the release of the head of the General Staff of Sun Ra Ras Onik Gasparyan, the press service of the head of the head of state reports. The message, in particular, says:
The President of the Republic considers urgent resolution of the political crisis associated with the issue of the dismissal of the head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ra Onik Gasparyan.
To this end, the president held meetings with the Prime Minister, Colonel-General Onyk Gasparyan and the Supreme Command of the Armed Forces. The justifications of the Prime Minister of the President's objections on the draft resignation were considered.
According to the president, it is obvious that the current situation is the result of the disagreements between representatives of political and military circles existing in the military and post-war period, sometimes with very personalized approaches. Also are also the basis for objection to the signing of the declaration of the decisions, legal practice and possible gaps in law.
In his previous statements, the President of the Republic stressed that the early settlement of the issue under the Constitution is of paramount importance for the safety and stability of Armenia, Artsakh, and is an absolute need to preserve statehood, preventing further split in society, the restoration of the unity and solidarity of the people, out of the state of uncertainty and achieving the final resolution of the situation.
The President of the Republic decided not to sign the draft decree.
At the same time, guided by paragraph 4 of Part 1 of Article 169 of the Constitution, the President of the Republic will appeal to the Constitutional Court with a separate statement - with a request to determine the question of compliance with the law "On the military service and the status of a serviceman" of November 15, 2017 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia.
Adhering to his authority, the President of the Republic will continue steps aimed at further stabilization of the situation by calling for everyone using the Presidential Institute as a platform, negotiate to find a comprehensive solution to all topical problems.
