British artist Sasha Jafri drew the biggest picture of the world on the canvas and called her "travel of mankind". Soon, the size of two football fields was sold at an auction in Dubai for a record amount. The buyer gave for the work of art $ 62 million, which will go to charitable goals, reports Joinfo.com, referring to ArtNews.

Record sale

Jafri drew a picture of 1600 square meters within eight months in the lobby closed at the hotel's quarantine in Dubai. He planned to sell it in parts, but all the canvas was acquired by a French businessman in the sphere of cryptocurrency Andre Abdon. The amount of $ 62 million, which an entrepreneur gave for canvas, made it one of the most expensive paintings sold at the auction of a lively artist.

The British artist says that the whole amount will be listed in Dubai Cares Charitable Funds, UNICEF, UNESCO and Global Gift Foundation. This money will help children from disadvantaged families in countries such as India, South Africa, Brazil and Indonesia.

44-year-old Sasha initially hoped to collect $ 30 million, so he was quite surprised that he sold the picture twice as expensive.

Before starting work, Jafri asked children from all over the world to send him his drawings about how they feel during a pandemic. As a result, the artist received children's images from 140 countries. He used them for inspiration.

He worked alone while the Atlantis Hotel was closed for visitors. During the creation of the picture, he received several injuries and was even forced to consult the doctors and move the emergency operation.

"I was constantly on my legs, leaning forward so that the brush touches the floor. It is quite bad to spend 20 hours a day in this position. But I was in the trance and did not know what harm I nano my body," the artist admitted.

In September 2020, representatives of the Guinness Book of Records registered the work of Sasha as the largest cloth. And now it passed the property of a businessman. Speaking about the buyer, Jafri calls him a man with a "beautiful vision." "He wants to build a museum to keep it," the artist admitted.

Previously, the auction record broke the picture of Winston Churchill. The work of the former Prime Minister of Great Britain was sold by Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie for a large amount.
