Israeli startup Nanomedic Technologies, a medical device manufacturer, which can cover burns and other wounds with a layer of artificial leather, said that the Rambam Health Care Campus hospital began using this system for treating patients.

Rambam Health Care Campus is an academic hospital for 1000 beds serving the northern part of Israel. Using the system developed by the startup, the doctors of this hospital have already cured dozens of patients suffering from burns of various sizes and severity.

The Spincare device is one of its kind portable electroforming * device capable of laying a thin layer nanofolocon over the entire surface of the wound. Such material imitates human tissues and adhesibly sticks to the treated area. It protects the wound, working as a medium in which the imitation of the extracellular matrix is created, where the cell reproduction and reproduction occurs.

The device creates an individual nanofibular "bandage", the form and size of which depends on the state of the patient's wound. The "bandage" imposed on the wound directly at the presence of aid is subtly adjacent to the surface, shape, thickness, skin area to be coated. The coating itself is applied from a short distance, eliminating contact between the face exercising, and the wound, thereby reducing the likelihood of infection.

The fibers themselves can be impregnated with various drugs, such as antibiotics, or antibacterial compounds, collagen, silicon and other substances that can help heow the wound.

The "bandage" structure provides greater mobility and, since the artificial layer is simultaneously waterproof, patients can take shower after 24 hours. The transparency of the layer allows doctors to observe the wound in the process of its healing, while no longer requires a bandage that can be potentially painful.

If it is necessary to replace or after wound healing, the material simply flaps from the skin, like the dried glue.

Professor Yehuda Ulmann (Yehuda Ullmann), head of the surgical department and director of the department of plastic surgery at Rambam Health Care Campus, notes that

The SPINCARE system from Nanomedic has many advantages, including protection against infections that cause infection with bacteria, and possessing properties that allow it to optimally adhere to the injury in such a way that the usual bandage cannot. The greatest advantage for patients is to avoid pain often arising when changing the bandage, especially in the treatment of children.

Given the portability of the SPINCARE system, it is expected that soon it will be available for use in clinics and emergency room offices in addition to trauma centers.

* Electronization (electrosping, electrical circulation) - a method for producing polymeric fibers as a result of the action of electrostatic forces on an electrically charged stream of a polymer solution or melt. The electronization method allows to obtain polymer fibers with a diameter of about several hundred nanometers.
