"Eralash" like the cast of the era
January 14, 2021 Boris Grachevsky - film director, screenwriter, one of the creators of the legendary television channel "Yelash". He was just a little more than seventy years, at the end of December he fell ill with Coronavirus, he was hospitalized, but until the latter was hope that he still cleans. Many adult network users today sincerely thank Grachevsky for their own happy childhood. It really seems to be a whole children's empire.
The idea of creating satirical almanacs for the youth audience came to the head of film director Alla Surikova in 1974. She turned with a proposal to the chairman of Goskino Philip Yermash (for one version, the name "Eralash" is just a parody of his last name, although according to the official version, this word as the name of the transfer suggested the daughter of the playwright Alexander Khmelerik).
No studio wanted to take for the project - too much work was thrust and too little money. And by some miracle enthusiasts still found: a graduate of Vgika, film admistor Boris Grachevsky and the playwright already mentioned above Alexander Khmelik. In just a few months, they managed to create a transfer, which became the cult in the USSR: at the beginning, "Yelash" showed in cinemas before sessions of films, and then he gradually moved to television.
Over the elderly years of its history, "Yelash" passed different stages - it all began with the screening of classic literary plots of the "shameful spot" of Agnia Barto, a hard opposition of lobotryers, hooligans and excellent students, at some point there was a clear romantic orientation in the TV journal, and Recently, critical comments in the address of modern youth sounded increasingly.
The recognizable branded card became a blue screen saver with yellow letters and a small hand-drawn cartoon Animator Yuri Smirnov (not always, by the way, easily corrected with the plot of the episode, which was added to the "Uralash" of his absurdity). And, of course, the final frame with the exclamation "Everything!".

It will have to admit that, reviewing the episodes of "Yelash" today, it can be noted that not all stories are so funny, and some of them produce the impression of pretty schematic and coarse. Interestingly, the production of "Yelash" rollers somehow managed to survive the restructuring, continued after the collapse of the USSR, did not stop in the 2000s. In recent years, Grachevsky criticized quite a lot - they said that he began to recruit less talented children actors, often appointed to meet the Son Medvedev's son in one of the episodes), rudely addressed the director. The quality of the plots has deteriorated, and simply modern digital culture has become so more differentiated that it would be strange if "Elash" still remained the flagship of children's video products. Satyric television journal has now reminded just a business empire, with numerous acting schools and a complex role distribution system. But it continued to fulfill an important function on finding young talents: for example, Matvey Novikov from "Nelyubvi" Zvyagintsev began his career from Grachevsky. And once in the "Yeralche", a lot of teenagers managed to light up, later received greater all-Russian fame - the same Sergey Lazarev, who played lied.
Perhaps today thousands of users thank Boris Grachevsky for their happy childhood for another reason. Many of us have almost no videos from our own school life, if not talking about the front line and some concert speeches. We have not found mobile phones with cool video cameras and a roomy memory card. Therefore, "Yelash" will remain for us an important visual memory of our transition, about our own teenage torment and joy. And modern children probably already documented all themselves, so each of them will have their own "Elash".
