From 2021, the law prohibiting the smoking on the balconies (including its own) of multi-storey houses, if it prevents at least one inhabitants to smoke in Lithuania. Judging by the incoming information, the new norm had to do with many Lithuanian citizens. Only in Vilnius for the first week almost 30 residential high-rise buildings, smoking on the balconies turned out to be outlined, reports the @rudelfi telegram channel.

The appropriate amendments to the law on tobacco control, the tobacco products of the Lithuanian Sejm took another October 1. In accordance with them, since 2021, smoking on balconies, terraces and loggias will be prohibited in high-rise buildings, if at least one tenant appears against this. According to the amendments, the owner of a building or an apartment or another person who uses an apartment or building must ensure that the tobacco smoke does not get into the neighboring apartments. In mid-November, new standards of the law have completed amendments to the Administrative Offenses Code, which have established the relevant fines. For smoking on the balcony in the house where the ban is installed, threatens a fine from 30 to 60 euros. With a repeated violation, this amount doubles.

Judging by the comments of the initiators of the law, it is assumed that it will work as follows. At the first stage, the neighbors (smoking and the one whom smoking interferes) will have to negotiate independently. If this could not be done, the enemy of smoking can write an appropriate application to the local municipality. That through the administrator of a high-rise building or HOA will inform the tenants about the introduction of the ban. 15 days after the appearance on the official notification of the ban on the ban will be considered valid.

Further, if the enemy of smoking (he must be a tenant of this particular home) will see a violation of the law, he is entitled to contact the police. At the same time, he will have to provide evidence of a violation, such as a photo or video.

Only over the first week, the actions of the new norm in Lithuanian municipalities received about 80 applications for its introduction, of which half in the capital. In 28 Vilnius high-rise buildings, the prohibition procedure is already running.
