The Moscow City Hall plans to spend about 3 billion rubles for the introduction of a video surveillance system with face recognition technology in New Moscow. The contract concluded earlier with the company Rostelecom, which acted for two years, costs the authorities of 500 million rubles.

The Public Procurement Portal appeared a package of documents submitted by the Department of Information Technologies of the Capital, according to which it is planned to spend 2.9 billion rubles to improve the video surveillance system operating in New Moscow. It is assumed that the chosen company "coordinates the place of installation" of 1700 video surveillance cameras, which are planned to be installed in the courtyards of apartment buildings, as well as almost 300 chambers in the "massacrelation zones of people".

The video stream obtained from cameras should be transmitted to the ECRD. The chambers themselves will be added to the metropolitan system recognition system and the information system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which will allow effective analysis of the criminogenic situation. Moscow City Hall will choose a contractor in the first days of February 2021.

Moscow authorities spend more and more money to improve the work of intellectual video surveillance systems and analyzing citizens data. For example, in 2019, almost 61 billion rubles were directed to such purposes, in 2020 - almost 68 billion rubles. Experts suggest that by the end of 2021 the costs will amount to more than 70 billion rubles.

Artem Gavrichenkov, the head of the company QRATOR LABS, commented on the news: "The video surveillance system, which the Moscow authorities want to deploy and improve in New Moscow, will certainly have former vulnerabilities. Despite the fact that the data will be transmitted by protected channels, the attackers with a high probability will be able to access the video surveillance cameras themselves according to the same scheme as it was recently with Russian Railways. "

IB experts note that despite the continuous increase in the amount of financing of projects related to video surveillance and technology recognition technology, the safety of such information systems causes serious issues. For example, in December 2020, there was a serious leakage of data on 100 thousand Muscovites, which had a coronavirus infection (their personal data and medical information were in free access).
