The novelty received a contrast roof, revised by the front and upgraded interior.
The Mini Cooper hatchback has not changed much since the third generation debut in 2014. But today the company announces the release of a new improved Cooper 2022, while updates will be distributed both on the John Cooper convertible and on the electric cooper SE. All of these updated models will appear in dealer centers at the end of the year, each with a fresh look at the cult language of the brand design, as well as with some updates of the cabin and technology as a whole.
The most obvious change in appearance is the front part. The designers replaced the traditional glossy-black inset of the radiator grille to the trim in the body color, which gives a small hatchback a cleaner view. The new MINI is equipped with a set of standard LED headlights, several unique 17- and 18-inch wheels, and the back part has obtained similar simplified processing with a large number of inserts in the body color. Handling rear lights Union Jack is saved - it will be present on each MINI model, starting next year. Also in 2022, three new bright shades will be available: Gray Metallic, Island Blue, and Zesty Yellow.
Although the change of style is relatively insignificant, Mini added several new packages and finishing options for the 2022 model. For example, a multicolor gradient roof appeared. Pictured here in the colors of San Marino Blue and Pearly Aqua, which flow into the color of Jet Black, is the only current multi-color option. But it will be available on all MINI Cooper models with a rigid roof, except JCW.
Buyers can also get Piano Black package, which includes more external elements. Round headlights in combination with new LEDs give the car spectacular view - edging of the rear lights, covers of mirrors, door handles, gas tank cover, badges, exhaust system and inserts into the grid - everything is dimmed. Chrome finish will also be saved.
The top model John Cooper Works is the only version of the hatchback, which does not have a new insertion of the radiator grille in the body color. Instead, the Performance model gets a more spectacular hexagonal grid connected to two larger lower ventilation holes. And the back of the roof is installed an enlarged spoiler, in combination with new ventilation holes and handling in the body color on the bottom of the bumper.
Mini Cooper 2022 has an updated dashboard design that simplifies the layout due to displaced ventilation holes and updated surfaces, and there is a Piano Black finish around the standard 8,8-inch touchscreen compatibility with Apple CarPlay. There are also several new options for external lighting, as well as an updated seat option from Light Checkered fabric and for the first time leather steering wheel heated.
The base cooper hardtop is equipped with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine, which last year, with a capacity of 134 horsepower (100 kilowatt) and 220 Newton meters in a pair with a standard six-speed manual transmission.
Cooper S remains a bit more powerful by issuing 189 hp and 281 nm from the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with turbocharging, as last year. John Cooper Works remains the most powerful option from this group, offering 228 hp. and 320 nm. Electric Cooper SE retained the former unit with a capacity of 184 hp and 366 Nm, and the EPA estimates for EPA estimates is 177 km.
With these minor visual updates, MINI Cooper will not be much more expensive by 2022. All three standard configurations of Cooper - Classic, Signature and Iconic went up by only $ 500 compared to last year's versions. However, electrical SE does not receive a widespread price increase.
