In order to identify passengers at once, six airports located in Russia, by December 2023, will use biometric data. The relevant statement was made by representatives of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, referring to its own program of digital transformation.
In the Document submitted by the Ministry of Transport, the document said: "By the end of December 2023, biometric data will be used to identify passengers, followed by the processing of such information by artificial intelligence systems, will be six units."
The document also states that in 2021, two airports will immediately launch a system of biometric identification of passengers, and in 2022 the system will start working at four airports. According to the "ideal scenario", the biometric identification system, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation wants to run in 2021 at once in four airports, in 2022 - in ten, in 2023 - fifteen.
It is worth canceting that as of February 2021, several Russian airports have already begun to implement the system of biometric identification of passengers in test mode. But representatives of Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo note that the system will not yet be able to completely replace all the usual pre-flight procedures, so it is still early to speak about its full functioning.
Domodedovo Airport earlier has already actively conducted tests for using the automatic face recognition system. The leadership of Vnukovo in 2019 stated that soon it was planned to implement a pilot project on the use of biometric information to identify passengers. In Sheremetyevo, they want to test the operation of automatic passport control cabins.
Previously, it was noted that the airports "Sheremetyevo" and Domodedovo will soon begin using the passenger recognition technology, for which the relevant video surveillance systems will be installed on all automated turnstiles (EGATE).
