Amnesty International Human Rights Organization explained why Alexei Navalny Prisoner's Policy was deprived of a prisoner's status. The application is published on the website of the organization.
The AMNESTY International report states that a person receives the status of a prisoner of conscience, when his belief, nationality, gender or other features of his identity become a reason for discrimination. However, the prisoner of conscience cannot become a person who committed violence or promoted it.
The organization denies that he deprived the naval status of the prisoner of conscience due to the pressure of Russian authorities, journalists or threads in social networks. Human rights defenders indicated that they had repeatedly became victims of Russian propaganda, so "the drainage of the Kremlin is not included in our agenda."
Soon after the assignment of this status, the employees of the Organization carefully studied the opposition's statements and came to the conclusion that they made a mistake: "In the past, Navalny spoke with comments that could be equated to promoting hatred, incitement to violence or enmity." Human rights defenders stated that they had chosen the wrong time to make such a decision and regret that they were unintentionally distracted by the campaign in the defense of the oppositionist
"Amnesty International used the term" prisoner of conscience "to emphasize the unfair nature of the navalny arrest and express the protest against unreasonable persecution. Our position in relation to the reprehensive actions of the Russian authorities has not changed, "the human rights defenders said.
"The confusion should not be: nothing of those who have said in bulk in the past does not justify his politically motivated persecution. Navalny was unreasonably detained for the exercise of his right to freedom of speech, and therefore we continue the campaign for his immediate liberation. "Amnesty International recognized the Navalny prisoner of conscience on January 17, when he was detained at Sheremetyevo airport after returning from Berlin. On February 23, the organization deprived him of this status - the sources of "media" believed that this is the result of the campaign of "people with RT in different countries" on the discredit of Navalny.
