In the United States at the GOODING auction, a unique racing car Citroen SM 1970s was for sale, which put several world speed records. Included with him give another trailer and pickup tractors, also built on the Citroen base. The estimated trio cost - from 7.37 to 14.7 million rubles.
This Citroen SM was converted into a racing option in the late 70s by Americans Jerry Hathaweey. In those years, he was led by Atelier SM WORLD, serving "Citroen", and therefore knew about these machines literally everything.
To turn Citroen SM into a racing car, Hathaway equipped it with a hopeless 3.0-liter engine from Maserati with WEBER carburetors. The unit gave out 250 horsepower and could accelerate up to 243 kilometers per hour. Later, the American has improved the power plant by providing the motor with two Airesearch turbocharger. In this form, Citroen managed to overcome the threshold of 320 kilometers per hour.
However, the car showed its record speed in 1987, when the wife of Hathauia Sylvia was sat down behind the wheel of a car. During qualifications, it demonstrated a speed of 332.2 kilometers per hour. True, during a test race, the indicator was somewhat less than 325.5 kilometers per hour. But that was enough to establish a world record in its class, which, by the way, could not beat for 23 years.
On this, the spouses did not stop and the time was constructed the original trailer with the same hydraulic suspension as Citroen SM. She could vary clearance in a wide range for the most comfortable car loading. Another "Citroen" was converted into a pickup, which hesitated as a tractor.
Note that all three cars are in impeccable state, despite participation in many competitions. The auction on which this lot will be exhibited, will take place on January 18th. The exact price of a unique trio is not yet known. Presumably, it will be from 100 to 200 thousand dollars, which in terms of rubles equals 7.37 - 14.7 million.
