Lavrov at a press conference on the results of the activities of Russian diplomacy in 2020 noted that the Russian Federation strongly suggests the inadmissibility of the use of military force and political pressure against objects that are the objects of the Syrian state. At the same time, Lavrov recalled that the adopted unanimously resolution of the UN Security Council 2254 demands to respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR).
"Yes, we have contacts with the United States along the Military line - not because we recognize the legitimacy of their presence there, but simply because they should act within certain framework. We cannot drive them out from there, we will not enter the clashes with them, of course. But since they are there, then we have a dialogue on the so-called deconfliction, during which we achieve compliance with certain rules, "
Sergey Lavrov focused on the fact that UN resolution requires humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people.
