This is one of the details that, as a rule, remain unnoticed, as few reach the page instruction manual, where oil characteristics are indicated that the car consumes. It is more convenient to go to the dealer or call the phone, calling the version of the car or VIN to find out what kind of oil you need to buy.

And the fact is that the brands of the Volkswagen concern changed the specification of oils that appear in the manual, on specific codes, to decipher only the dealer. The manufacturer understands that this item is no longer needed by buyers, he warns about the need to replace oil to 30,000 km of mileage and maximum half-liter consumption per thousand km. The problem lies in the fact that the signal light or the sensor shows the lack of oil and requests the topping, and the owner has no accurate specification.

This is a very extreme consumption, but in fact the overwhelming majority of Wolfsburg giant models require about two liters between each regular replacement. The problem occurs when the buyer uses the manual and faces codes of the type "VW 504 00/507 00" or "VW 508 00/509 00". That is, two codes on the version, which means that the model can consume two options for oil. But the key is in the official.

In the Czech Republic, where they noticed this extreme, Skoda representatives warn that each of these codes corresponds to a specific type of oil depending on the type of maintenance, be it flexible or fixed oil replacement intervals. The first refers to the interval of 30,000 km or every two years, and the fixed interval corresponds to one year or 15,000 km. As for open codes, they distinguish gasoline and diesel engines with solid particle filter and without it.

Skoda sources reported that, although they have no entries on complaints of customers for this item, they intend to offer their customers the most complete information, so in the summer of 2022 they will add a special label under the hood, which will contain detailed information about motor oil used in each versions.
