Classified transactions for vaccine supplies have concluded individual EU countries - Chancellor of Austria

Almaty. March 12th. KazTAG - vaccines from the new coronavirus are distributed among the countries - members of the European Union are not in proportion to the number of their population, because secret transactions have been concluded between individual countries with pharmaceutical companies, leads TASS words of Chancellor Austria Sebastian Kurtz.

"When decisions were made between the heads of states and governments, most likely, at the same time, other agreements were adopted with pharmaceuticals in another body, the so-called coordination board of medical officials. Treaties of this body are classified, even I do not know them. But there are instructions that there could be the so-called sale, where additional transactions between member countries and pharmaceuticals were concluded, "Kurtz said at a press conference in Vienna on Friday.

As clarified, Chancellor of Austria warned that the continuation of such practice will only increase the difference between the countries of the European Union in the production of vaccines. In particular, because of this approach, Bulgaria and Latvia may face their insufficient number.

"It is quite obvious that some countries got too little, while others are clearly more. (...) It must be prevented. This does not correspond to the spirit of the EU, the political goal of the joint procurement of vaccines and contradicts the agreement of the heads of state and governments of January 21. (...) Urgently need complete transparency with respect to these agreements of the Coordination Council with pharmaceutical companies. (...) It is necessary to find out who has signed such treaties, why there was a deviation from the purpose of equal distribution in Europe, "the Austrian Chancellor called.

According to him, at the EU level, it is necessary to find a joint decision of this problem so that "vaccines are fairly distributed for each person in Europe." Kurtz stressed that the goal should be a joint successful vaccination of most of the population in EU countries before summer.

Leaders of 27 EU member countries held on January 21, a video conferencing, during which discussed the situation with a pandemic and problem of vaccination in the community countries.
