Another electrocarditance of the German company went to tests and the car already has a serial body.

In order to keep up with the growing line of Volkswagen Group electrocarbers, Audi is actively working to create new "green" models. Not even representing the serial Q4 E-Tron and Q4 Sportback E-Tron based on MEB, the brand already tests a completely different SUV with a zero emission level. Photospiions managed to make the first series of pictures of the Audi prototype, which is essentially a fellow Porsche Macan next generation.

It seems that on the prototype there are already all the final bodies panels, although it does not have a lower front grille, and these basic rear lights are only the pre-tuning used during testing. You can easily say that this is an electric vehicle, not only in the absence of visible exhaust pipes, but also by the closed radiator grille, since there is no engine internal combustion, which requires cooling.

Although the novelty body is completely laid by camouflage, you can already say that the electric crossover looks differently than the current proposals of the Audi Q Series for cars with internal combustion engines. Short protrusions indicate that it is designed from scratch as an electric vehicle, unlike the larger E-Tron, which is based on the MLB platform used in conjunction with Q7 and Q8.

As for the name, the logic tells us that it will be called Q5 E-TRON, since Vag has already mentioned this name in a document published in November 2020. Audi plans to bring the model to the market in 2022, simultaneously with the new Macan. Both crossovers will ride the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) reserved for medium and larger electric vehicles.

Little is known about Q5 E-Tron, but the German car conglomerate has already shared some preliminary details about the PPE platform. They will be slightly shorter than comparable cars based on MLB, but at the same time will offer more space inside thanks to a wider wheelbase, thought out the installation of batteries and the absence of a central tunnel.

Audi previously mentioned that a pneumatic suspension will be used on the novelty, the torque control system and rear wheel control system. Installations are being developed both with one and with two electric motors, and the first will have a rear-wheel drive, and a more powerful configuration is a four-wheel drive. For a new platform, which Audi is developing with Porsche, promised quick charging capabilities of 350 kW.

In the new report, AUTO BILD is argued that there will also be Q6 E-TRON, acting as a "coupe" version, but at the moment there is nothing official. We are also not sure that it will be his official name, since it may ultimately be called the Q5 E-Tron Sportback, similar to the coming pair Q4 E-Tron and Q4 Sportback E-Tron.
