When BMW introduced IX 2022 in November, she noted that the crossover is "still under the development stage of the serial version." As a result, it is not surprising that a couple of prototypes recently noticed in Colorado.
It is worth noting that one of the prototypes is completely disguised, and the other is without disguise. In fact, the red model cannot be confused with anything else, because the IX icon is visible on her side. Although there is nothing new, IX is the serial version of the INEXT concept, which should open a new ERU of electric BMW models. The release of the BMW IX 2022 is scheduled at the end of this year, but, as previously reported the edition of 32cars.ru, it can be postponed until March next year.
The model is approximately the same size as X5, but has an aerodynamic exterior with a resistance coefficient of 0.25. Designers endowed crossover with frameless windows and 20-inch aerodynamic-optimized wheels. Among other features are the thinnest lighting devices that have ever been installed on the serial BMW, as well as the artificial grille of the radiator, which closes the series of sensors.
The unique style continues in the cabin, as a five-seater car has a minimalist interior with a digital 12.3-inch instrument panel and a curved 14.9-inch display of the information and entertainment system. Drivers will also find a hexagonal steering wheel, controls with crystals and active tactile input surfaces.
Since the model is still under development, the Bavarian manufacturer has not published its detailed specifications. Nevertheless, the company stated that IX would have two electric motors, the total capacity of which exceeds 496 horsepower. This will allow the models accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in less than five seconds. The battery with a power of 100+ kWh will allow the crossover to drive more than 600 km in the WLTP cycle. The EPA range will be lower, but BMW stated that it will still be more than 480 km.
When the Battery IX is discharged, the drivers will be able to use the rapid DC charging to 200 kW. A 10-minute charging can provide a stroke of 120 km, while the battery can discharge from 10 to 80% in less than 40 minutes. At home, a 11 kW wall-mounted charger will fill the battery charge loss in less than 11 hours.
