Alpina fully devoted to the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe completely. The result was Alpina B8 Gran Coupe, a luxurious, lightning version, which surpasses the power of BMW M8.
Alpina has a reputation of a company adapting BMW products in such a way that no speed is lost, and flexibility and comfort only increased. Now the company is ready to submit B8 Gran Coupe based on the BMW M850i model, but the power exceeding it. The car was improved in collaboration with ZF.
Under the hood of B8 Gran Coupu, the same burbed engine 4.4 V8 is installed as in the M850i and in M8. This eight-cylinder engine produces 530 hp. in M850i and 600 hp In M8. Engine 4.4 V8 in Alpina B8 Gran Coupe transmits at least 621 hp and 800 nm for all four wheels. It makes it stronger than M8, and only 4 hp less powerful than M8 Competition, but torque exceeds M8 Competition on 50 nm. Additional power is achieved thanks to the finalized turbines, a modified cooling system and intermediate coolers, which are 50% more than the original.
However, in acceleration from the spot to a speed of 100 km / h Alpina B8 Gran Coupe by 0.2 seconds slower than M8 Competition, and 0.1 seconds faster than the "ordinary" M8 Gran Coupe. It is partly due to the other engine character and high weight: B8 Gran Coupe weighs 2,175 kg, and M8 - 2,055 kg. B8 Gran Coupe to a lesser extent than M8, focused on rigid sportiness. In any case, there are no reasons to complain about Alpina: B8 accelerated to 100 km / h in 3.4 seconds and developed the maximum speed of 324 km / h. For comparison, M8 is configured to speed 250 km / h and can reach 305 km / h using the optional M DRIVER's package.
Alpina completely revised the chassis and describes the character B8 Gran Coupé as "first-class comfort over long distances with precise steering characteristics." In addition to the modified eight-cylinder engine, Alpina provides the B8 Gran Coupe a special exhaust system of stainless steel, which should emphasize the sound of V8, and with the help of active shock absorbers, the driver can choose the mode of movement: "Comfort", "Comfort +", "Sport" and "Sport +" .
B8 Gran Coupe looks quite modest. For example, here you will not find any "screaming" spoilers, and on bumpers and exhaust pipes there are practically no black "sports" accents: four round, like M8, exhaust is neatly built into the rear bumper. Naturally, B8 Gran Coupe "stands" on the branded 20-spoke wheels Alpina with a diameter of 21 inches. The Brembo brake mechanism is hidden behind these discs with blue calipers and disks in diameter almost 40 cm. Alpina can additionally deliver ventilated discs.
