Blue Lagoon Jetta GLI concept with Recaro seats - Dream of any lovers of retro cars.
Volkswagen supports close connections with the enthusiast community. Every year he produces a group of concept cars that satisfy the needs of this public. This year, VW decided to reveal his concept individually, starting with Blue Lagoon Jetta Gli Concept. Created based on the Sedan Volkswagen Jetta GLI 2021, this concept in retro-style gives tribute to a rare color option for the fourth generation Jetta GLI, Blue Lagoon.
In 2002, Volkswagen released a special series GTI 337 limited edition of 1,500 units. The car was equipped with 18-inch BBS RC wheels, Recaro seats and votex seats - all this was an inspiration for the creation of the next generation GLI. The fourth GLI generation debuted in 2004 and was painted in the unique Blue Lagoon color, which was quickly replaced by a darker tint called Jazz Blue.
"Jetta GLI was a favorite of enthusiasts throughout its 37-year history. Having granted tribute to MK4 with this conceptual assembly, we note the passion that manifests itself to these machines, "said Sean Meinard, enthusiast and autosport marketing specialist.
VW began with the Jetta GLI Auto AutoBahn 2021 model, painted in Deep Black Pearl, then changed the color using the vinyl film. To accurately match the color, the manufacturer borrowed the fuel tank cover at the 2004 GLI and revised the range of several vinyl film suppliers to find Orafol Midnight Blue Metallic. Since this is a show car, VW even wrapped a rack film between the doors and the sidewalls of the body, so there are no traces of the original color.
"The color is incredible," said Andres Valbuen, the former production manager for Volkswagen. "Recaro, wheels and stunning style changes, but when you see it outside in the sun, this color becomes another."
And the color is not the only change in the exterior. Blue Lagoon Gli Concept also has the side skirts Air Design, Spoiler and Front Splitter Fifteen52 Critical Aero Design (CAD). Retro style wheels are 20-inch BBS CH-R alloy wheels with Continental ExtremeContact Sport 235 / 35Z R20XL 90Y tires. The car is underestimated by the H & R Springs Street Performance suspension.
Inside, there are also some elements of retro, including leather front seats Recaro Ergomed ES, which look as if they came straight out of the 1990s. VW gave tribute to the original GTI with an awesome gear shift handle in the form of a ball for the Black Forest Industries golf ball. This is just a concept, so it is unlikely that any of these modifications will be offered on the GLI serial. Blue Lagoon GLI will be demonstrated at Volkswagen events throughout the country.
