The Defender of the Human Rights of Artsakh published a report on the threat of vandalism against Armenian cultural heritage in the territories occupied by Azerbaijan, and the destruction of Armenian monuments.

As a result of Azerbaijani military aggression against the Republic of Artsakh, at least 1,456 outstanding immunerary monuments of Armenian history and culture, including 161 units of monasteries and church, 591 Khachkar, the ancient territories of Tigranakert, Azoha, Nor Karmiravan, Mirik, Keren, and many fortresses, castles, Places associated with religious worship, and others passed under the control of Azerbaijan.

Eight state museums with 19,131 exhibits were transferred to Azerbaijani, as well as the Museum of Carpets in Shushi and the Private Museum of the Armenian Drama.

The report presents a number of examples of destruction and vandalism against the Armenian cultural heritage during Azerbaijani-Turkish aggression and after the establishment of the cease-fire regime, including cases of intentional attack and vandalism regarding the churches of the Holy Allporer Gasanchezzo and Sv. Ovasnes Mkrtich (Green Chapel) in Shushi.

The report also refers to the policy of Azerbaijan for the deliberate dissemination of the disinformation about the Armenian cultural heritage of Artsakh and the "Albanization" of cultural monuments, which threatens the destruction of Armenian cultural heritage in Artsakh.

These cases and analysis of the context of Armenian Delivery show that the destruction and distortion of the identity of the Armenian cultural heritage are systematic and widespread. Actions and statements of state bodies and public figures of Azerbaijan demonstrate that this is a special government policy based on the criminal policy of inciting hatred to the Armenian people.

Taking into account the numerous precedents and the real hazards of the deliberate destruction of the Armenian cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani authorities in the territories under Azerbaijani control, the employees of the Office of the Human Rights of the Human Rights of Artsakh consider the need to apply emergency and immediate effective measures from the relevant international organizations, especially from UNESCO.
