And indeed, after the presentation of Kobia fish meat at the European seafood exhibition in 2010, several Asian aquacultural farms began breeding with the hope of supplying premium meat to Europe.

However, the pioneer in the breeding of Kobia, as SeaFoodSource reports, is the Norwegian Aquaculture Company on Marine Farms ASA, which has invested more than $ 10 million in the development of an economy for the cultivation of Kobia in Vietnam and in 2006-2007 opened the catch and deliveries. At that time, it was the world's largest farm for the cultivation of Cobia with production potential of 5000 tons.

In 2012, most of the Cobia produced in Vietnam was sold in a fresh form from the farm to the local market, only a modest amount of fresh fish was exported to Europe. Despite the high prices, sales in Europe did not meet expectations, and Jorge Alarcon, managing director of Marine Farms Vietnam, changed the marketing strategy.

Alarcon believes that the cause of low sales of Kobia in Europe is that for the European consumer it was an unknown form competing on a diverse market with a wide range of more cheap fish available. Cobia will definitely never compete at a price with Pangasius, Tilapia or Mortar.

"This is a premium product that deserves the best price," he said. "I think that in the future, the production of cobia may increase as people better get acquainted with this worthy product."

Most Asian fish farms breeding cobia, which is called, did not go, they preferred to grow silver pompano (trachinotus blochii) as an intermediate culture in the production of shrimp.

Silver pompano - marine fish with broad environmental resistance, rapid growth, good market demand and standardized production technology, successfully mastered in many countries of the Asia-Pacific region, such as Taiwan and Indonesia.

Pompano can be successfully grown in ponds, tanks and floating seabed. This kind of pelagic, very active, can adapt and grow well even with salinity of about 8 ppt.

The intermediate period is used in the cultivation of shrimps as a prophylactic measure against viral diseases characteristic of the owner.
