Smart Sphinx
In 1987, the Smart House project developed the All-Union Research Institute of Technical Aesthetics. In essence, it was a simple concept, but he was ahead of technology of that time on many generations.
The project was called a superfunctional integrated communicative system or simply Sphinx. Scientists from the Institute revealed that all household devices lack a device that would unite them. This problem was to eliminate the Sphinx.

What was part of the Soviet "smart home"?
For all household devices, the Sphinx provided a general processor that would store, received and transmitted data. From him would remotely work any screens, columns and other blocks that can be placed all over the apartment.
For the Sphinx, sensory control panels were envisaged, similar to modern tablets, and small manual consoles with a downtown display. The devices themselves shared on wearable associated with housing or with transport. Thanks to the central block, simultaneous playing music and video, telecast, using video links and the ability to play computer games. All this would be broadcast on the original Wi-Fi. And each family member would have their own disk with personal data for the processor.

What happened to the project?
Since the concept was created during the period of restructuring and on the verge of falling the USSR, he remained a layout. By the beginning of the 2000th institute, responsible for the Sphinx project, was impoverished, he closed branches in other cities and a design center, which was in Pushkin Square in Moscow. In 2013, the Research Institutes joined the University of Miera, and now life boils there.
Project Manager Dmitry Azrikan became the design director of the American company INTERNATIONLA PROMOTION INC. He received more than 100 different patents, and the idea of Sphinx Azrikan was finalized to the "Electronic Office" Furnitronics, which introduced in Spain in 1990.
