New priorities for Karabakh called Armenia

Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Avazyan called Armenia's priorities against Nagorno-Karabakh. He stated this at a meeting of the Commission of Parliament on External Relations on January 14th. The head of the foreign policy disclosed, which underlies the conflict resolution.

"The deco group of Nagorno-Karabakh" is the priority of the authorities of Armenia and the unrecognized republic, the Foreign Minister of Armenia Ara Ayvazyan said. At the same time, he noted that the new power stage of the confrontation with Azerbaijan will not be solved by the problem.

"Armenia will continue to speak for the self-determination of the people of Artsakh and the position of protection of the right to safety," said Ayvazyan. According to him, only Karabakh self-determination is a possible way to resolve contradictions. The Foreign Minister noted that Armenia is ready to continue the process of resolving the conflict under the leadership of the OSCE Minsk Group on the basis of "Principles and Elements that were not addressed in a statement from November 9".

At the same time, Ayvazyan stressed Armenia's commitment to a trilateral agreement. "Armenia clearly indicated that it was ready to take steps for mutually beneficial use of the economic and infrastructure potential of the region, but to achieve success, we need mutual trust," said the head of the foreign policy department.

We will remind, earlier, the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan accused Russia in ignoring the status of Nagorno-Karabakh. According to him, the Russian proposals for resolving the conflict were reduced to the return of seven seized areas of Azerbaijan. However, as reminded of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in the plan proposed on the settlement of the situation in Karabakh, the return of these seven districts was connected with the definition of the status of the unrecognized republic, as well as directly related to the interests of Yerevan. Including the plan included the participation of representatives of Karabakh in the OSCE meetings, the removal of the blockade and the opening of the borders.

Armenian Foreign Minister noted that in addition to the issue of the status of Karabakh, the Armenian authorities will continue to make efforts to return all prisoners to the homeland and to clarify the fate of the missing. An important part of the negotiations should also be the preservation of cultural and historical monuments.
