Payment of purchases at the cash desks with smartphones has long become the norm for most users in Russia. After all, it is so convenient - to get the phone from the pocket and attach it to the terminal and conduct a transaction, scanning a fingerprint pre-pin. There are no cards with pin-codes, no cash and the more passing. But the most important thing is that even the wallet in principle can be left at home. That's just NFC payments to people were little, and they came up with their payment on QR. I tell why this is an absolutely useless thing. At least in Russian realities.
How to pay on Aliexpress using Google Pay
Payment for purchases by QR-code went from China. There, this was the popularity of the Wechat Messenger, which for the local is not just a means of communication, and the super-service, through which they receive the news, are treated for public services and, of course, they translate money. Therefore, at some point, retailers matched, which would be convenient to accept payment for the purchase of exactly through QR. As a result, this led to the fact that for a long time, Chinese versions of flagship smartphones did not even equip NFC modules. They were simply not needed.
Than payment by NFC is better than QR
After some time, and, if you are accurate, in 2019, QR payments tried to run and with us. I can't remember who was the initiator, and it does not matter. It is only important that a new payment method in Russia still launched, offering it as an alternative to contactless payments on NFC. The main argument in favor of QR was that not all smartphones are equipped with a near-field modules, and the QR code does not require additional equipment except the camera. It sounds great, but in practice everything comes out otherwise.
How Google can make Google Pay better
- First, since the idea of QR payments, the number of smartphones with NFC has grown significantly. If another 4-5 years ago, only the most expensive models were equipped with a near-field module, then today it has any state employee. Take even Poco M3, which costs 11 thousand rubles, at least Galaxy S21 for 75 thousand.
- Secondly, the payment on NFC requires less action than by QR. No, you just imagine that you need to get a smartphone, open the camera to bring it to the code, read it and confirm the conduct of the transaction (this is provided that the amount of payment is already incorporated into the code). And in the case of NFC-payment, you can simply attach the device to the terminal and everything (Google Pay allows you to not confirm 3 pay up to 1000 rubles).
- Thirdly, the use of terminals is a safer thing, because it is more difficult to replace them, in contrast to QR codes. Regardless of whether it is printed on the stand or is formed immediately before payment, it is obvious that installing a new terminal and connect it to the checkout is not so simple.
- Fourth, payment on NFC does not require an Internet connection, and for the payment through QR, it will probably need it. As you know, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay, and even Huawei Pay form payment tokens directly on the user's device, without connecting the connection to cloud servers and even banking organizations.
QR payment in Russia
There are no special prospects for QR payments in Russia and according to Mikhail Berner, the general director of the Russian office Visa. According to him, the payment system does not see the prospects for the development of QR-payment on the Russian market, because the period when this technique could find the application here already passed. Users have chosen contactless payments through NFC, so believe that they will voluntarily refuse them in favor of QR, at least irrational. Despite this, Visa will continue to maintain payment on QR in Russia, without planning to refuse her.

Russia is one of the most advanced countries in the level of contactless payments through NFC. It enters the three leaders in demand Apple Pay and Samsung Pay.
