The S-Max and Galaxy models will receive a hybrid system with a capacity of 190 horsepower.
Recall that in the fall of 2019, Ford introduced the updated S-Max and Galaxy models and then began to prepare the hybrid versions of these machines. As expected, they had to get a power unit from the rechargeable Ford Kuga crossover, which consists of a gasoline 2,5-liter motor, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 14.4 kWh. But as a result, the minivans received a simpler system, which debuted on Kuga last fall.
As Speedme.ru writes, the Ford S-Max and Galaxy hybrid system includes a 2.5 gasoline engine operating on an economical cycle of Atkinson, an electric motor and an electromechanical variator. But the tank of the traction battery, which is under the hollow of the trunk, only 1.1 kWh. The recharging from the outlet is not envisaged, and on clean electricity, such minivans can ride only at low speed: after a few seconds, after the start, a gasoline motor comes into business, which can fill the battery charge in motion.
The total performance of the hybrid system will be 190 hp, but the manufacturer does not fit not on high-speed characteristics, but on low fuel consumption, which is comparable to the parameters of the 190-strong turbodiesel 2.0 ecoblue, and reduce CO2 emissions. In addition, the electrical superstructure came out very compact, which made it possible to maintain the volume of luggage compartments: with folded rear rows of S-MAX and Galaxy hybrids seats offer 2,200 and 2339 liters, respectively. Up to 100 km / h Ford S-Max Hybrid accelerates in 9.8 seconds, and a larger Ford Galaxy Hybrid model - exactly 10 seconds.
Note that the production cycle of S-MAX and Galaxy models is nearing an end, and Ford has already announced that there will be no new generations of cars. In part, therefore, the manufacturer decided not to spend money on the development of rechargeable hybrids.
Prices for hybrid versions of Ford S-Max and Galaxy are announced: so, in Germany, the hybrid Ford S-MAX will cost from 42100 euros, and the similar Ford Galaxy Hybrid is at least 44100 euros. That is, surcharge, if compared with basic diesel models, in both cases will be 4500 euros.
