You, probably, guessed - this is a Volkswagen Teramont, a car designed primarily for the North American market, although it is called there - ATLAS.

Volkswagen Teramont has taken root well in Russia, we also love big and not very expensive and sophisticated on the design of the machine. Last year, what is called "at the request of workers", the six-cylinder engine is defined from 280 to 249 hp, it is this version on our test.

Now, as they say, try to take off with all this. A year ago, we already had a Teramont with a 4-cylinder turbo engine. What is better extra two cylinders or turbine? The limit features of two engines are almost the same, up to 100 km / h they are able to disperse the car slightly faster than 9 s. The maximum torque is also almost the same, only achieved with different revs. The Turbomotor is 350 nm at 1500 - 4400 rpm, and the "atmospheric" gives 360 nm at 3500 rpm.

In practice, when accepted from the place of the car behave almost the same. The difference becomes noticeable on the highway when you need to quickly accelerate when overtaking. The atmospheric engine has a little more traction, so when smooth acceleration, the transmission switches less frequently. But at the same time, if there is a need to sharply accelerate, then there is no atmospheric version with these problems, "automatic" quickly and at the same time smoothly goes immediately from the eighth to the fourth gear.

If we talk about fuel consumption, then in urban conditions a six-cylinder engine is more voracious, it takes about 15 liters of fuel per 100 km, while the four-cylinder is enough 12 - 13 liters. With uniform movement along the track, both engines consume about 10 liters. But let's not forget about the resource. Although the 2-liter motor is the most reliable among the turbocharged power units in the Volkswagen line, the engine resource significantly depends on its volume. Moreover, the dependence here is practically linear, that is, the engine with a volume of 3.6 liters, the resource will be at least one and a half times more than that of a two-liter, and atmospheric motors are not so demanding to the quality of the fuel.

As for off-road abilities, they have the Volkswagen Teramont at a high level, regardless of which engine is installed, the ground clearance is 203 mm, the bodies of the body are small, steel protection covers all the aggregates. The all-wheel drive transmission with a multi-disc clutch Haldex here is configured in such a way that up to 10% of the torque is constantly transmitted to the rear wheels, which simplifies the control of the car on a slippery road, with a slip of the front wheels, a large thrust is transmitted. With a constant drive, the torque is distributed about equally equally, the electronics is able to effectively imitate the blocking of inter-axis differentials. Also, this car has several off-road regimes, including individual, allowing to regulate the level of electronics intervention.

The suspension on small irregularities works almost perfectly, but at the same time the supply of energy intensity is not very large, it misses the blows from large irregularities, although it is possible in optional low-profile tires. But in general, the level of comfort for this car is very high.

By winter operation, Volkswagen Teramont is very well adapted, already in the base here there are heating mirrors and glasswater nozzles, starting from the second configuration. Heated windshield is installed throughout the area. As an option, a parking heater with remote control and timer is offered. But here it should be noted that on the machines with the VR6 engine equipped with such a heater, the panoramic roof with a hatch, which is included in the standard EXCLUSIVE Top Package Equipment. Just such a car we got for the test.

What about prices? Despite the increase in the utilization collection Volkswagen Teramont almost did not rise in price. Even the test car is attacked by options cost about 4 million rubles. Crossover in the basic configuration costs 3,009,000 rubles. The six-cylinder motor is available, starting a respect configuration (3,439,000 rubles), the same car with a four-cylinder engine costs 160,000 rubles cheaper. For the most expensive Volkswagen Teramont in the EXCLUSIVE configuration will have to pay 4,059,000 rubles. The price although not "folk", but quite competitive, given the possibilities of the car. We will not forget that the factory guarantee for this car is 4 years or 120,000 km, it is more than most competitors.
