Russia helped Armenia as much as possible during the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was stated by the Ex-Minister of Defense of Armenia David Tonoyan. He told what questions Moscow helped to solve Yerevan.
"In the context of the Deployed War, Russia made a maximum to fulfill its allied obligations," said the former Minister of Defense Armenia David Tonoyan in an interview with MediaMax. According to him, the Minister of Defense of Russia Sergei Shoigu played a special role in mediation between the two countries.
According to Tonanian, sometimes the defense ministers led telephone negotiations several times a day. At the same time, he did not disclose the details of the negotiations. The former head of the military department noted that in addition to defense issues, Moscow helped to solve Yerevan and a number of others, civilians.
Previously, Tonanoy rated the effectiveness of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh. He stressed the importance of the Russian peacekeeping mission in the region and noted the high role of Russia in participating in the settlement of the conflict.
Recall, after the conclusion of a tripartite agreement on the cease-fire towards Russia, the accusations of the "betrayal of Armenia" sounded, since, according to his conditions, Baku, 7 border regions were transferred and occupied by the territory of the disputed region at the time of the conclusion of agreements. In the Kremlin, such accusations were called untenable and unfair. According to the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov, in the event of a direct attack on an ally, Moscow was ready to "do everything possible." He also noted that only the friendly relations between Russia and Armenia, and with Azerbaijan helped to establish peace in the region.
On January 11, Russia's leaders, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a second joint statement devoted to the further development of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the document, a trilateral working group on unlocking economic and transport links will be created.
