Russian scientists told about the unprecedented case of coronavirus mutation. In the body of a woman treated from oncology, they found more than 18 mutations. The new strain in the world has already managed to paint "Russian". Is it worth afraid of him?

Unique patient

During the coronavirus pandemic in Russia, more than 3.4 million infections of the strain of a new type were revealed. About 62 thousand sick failed to save. Scientists around the world in a hurry began to develop a vaccine, the mass use of which would help save humanity. It seemed that the decision was found, because the Russians first patented an incredible effectiveness, but a new trouble appeared on the threshold - Coronavirus mutters. The unique case of COVID-19 changes described in detail the staff of several Russian scientific institutions in their work. They revealed in the body of 47-year-old Russians 18 mutations of coronavirus and their investigated in detail.

A unique patient turned to doctors in March 2020. A woman with the lymphoma fourth stage was hospitalized for planned chemotherapy. It was placed in the ward with a patient of a solid age, which soon discovered COVID-19. On April 17, the cancer woman was discharged from the hospital. Within two weeks after discharge, it appeared symptoms of coronavirus. Doctors confirmed the presence of a disease, conducting testing. Patient's repeated strokes were taken in May, June and July. They turned out to be negative in the presence of severe coronavirus symptoms. In August, a 47-year-old woman made 10 tests on COVID-19. All of them were positive. The strokes taken in early September showed the same result. Woman hurt hard 4 months. The test was negative only on September 12. Repeated analyzes in November and December this result was confirmed.

Starting point

Russian scientists studied in detail the case of a cancer woman, in the body of which Coronavirus acquired 18 new mutations, including two in the S-protein gene. The latter turned out to be identical to those who were identified from infected minks in Denmark. For the initial version of the Coronavirus genome, which the Russian woman became infected, scientists had to take the one that was found in the smear of the elderly patient from Oncoboles. By the suggestion of specialists, it was from her an 47-year-old woman infected. The materials of the first test of a unique patient turned out to be inaccessible for sequencing. They were discarded immediately after testing.

Similar mutations

Comparing the materials, scientists came to the conclusion that part of the SARS-COV-2 mutations identified from the Russian woman coincides with the strains found in British and South African strains. Some of them were observed in other patients with weakened immunity. Sequencing also showed that the sample of the smear of an elderly woman taken per point of reference differs from the Wuhan strain of COVID-19 on 25 genetic changes. At the same time, 7 of them fit into the previously allocated norms, and 18 mutations are specific. They are inherent in only an infected 47-year-old Russian. According to experts, sequenced by the COVID-19 Coronavirus genome from a woman with a lymphoma is characterized by an independent acquisition of 18 new mutations accumulated within no more than 132 days. This suggests that the rate of development of the virus in its weakened oncology of the body significantly exceeded the average rate of the evolution of COVID-19.

The similarity of the mutations of two S-proteins of the Russian woman with those that were identified from Danish mink, scientists called the case of polymorphism inside the owner. Studies have shown that the pedigree virus of a unique patient is in no way connected with minks. This fact suggests that the pair of mutations was re-formed and was acquired by a woman with a lymphoma regardless of animals. The case of the Russian woman today is the only one sample detected outside the Cluster 5, that is, not related to mink.

Is it worth afraid?

The work of Russian scientists has shown that the acquisition of a large number of mutations is associated with the long finding of SARS-COV-2 in the body of one person. In such conditions, the coronavirus can be extremely quickly adapted and changed. In a weakened organism, its evolutionary speed increases at once several times. At the same time, scientists assure that the discovery is not necessary to be afraid. A single case with 18 mutations does not carry a mass threat and does not affect the epidemiological situation in the country. Currently, it helps specialists more accurately explore the nature of coronavirus and understand how he mutters and what natural selection is valid for it.

Despite the fact that Russian scientists continue to insist on the absence of a threat, the world, holding his breath, watches what is happening.
