Written in 1874, the painting "Ballet rehearsal on the stage" was not a typical picture of the direction of impressionism. The absence of color indicates that the written canvas looks like a griezail technique. Due to the monochromicity of the canvas, which was sharply different from other paintings, she was immediately seen at the exhibition Impressionism in 1874. Most likely, the canvas had to serve as an engraver.
For the image of the ballet rehearsal, the artist chose the scene above the scene. There was a degi in the bed, located at an angle, for better focus on the stage. Most paintings with the image of dancers, ballet soloists or operas depict actors in the rays of glory and in the peak of a grand presentation. Degas, on the contrary, showed the other side. This canvas did not exceed.
In the lower right corner of the picture, an empty visual series is visible, which once again indicates that this is a rehearsal. Canvas is made in dull dark colors, where white dresses contrast well. In the left corner you can watch the ballerinas that are waiting for their turn. Three other dancers are discussing something among themselves, one more, sitting on the bench, scratching shoulder.
On the right side of the ballerina's canvas rehearse the upcoming play, and the reporter was located on the chair, which was watching the work of the dancers.
