The Netherlands Parliament called on the government to recognize the Armenian Genocide 12820_1

The Federation of Armenian Organizations of the Netherlands (Faon) is satisfied with the clear decision of the Dutch Parliament. Now turn to the recognition by the Netherlands Genoocide of Armenians. Faon thanks the Netherlands Parliament for the adoption of the resolution of Joel Fordewind, a member of the Christian Union faction, is noted in the statement of the Federation.

The resolution contains a direct appeal to the government to recognize the Armenian Genocide. Parliament adopted the document almost unanimously.

Wide support for the resolution by the deputies suggests that for a long time in the Netherlands parliament, great dissatisfaction with the position of governments with respect to the Armenian Genocide has been brewing.

"Faon, Commission on April 24, Dutch Armenians - all grateful to Joel Fordewindu and many other members of parliament, who for many years did not regret the efforts so that the Armenian Genocide is recognized. Many of them showed a complete commitment and supported us by visiting commemorative events dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, for example, a memorial concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in the Hague.

Faon thanks everyone who supported us in this matter. The organization also thanks members of the Committee of the Promotional Commission on April 24 for their support over the years.

The meaning of the Fordewinda resolution and the others is that it is necessary to speak definitely that in the future it would be possible to find the solution of the solar problems.

Faon considers this idea very important, given the current situation, when, during the war in Nagorno-Karabakh, Genocide Watch warned about the new genocide, and after the completion of war and Turkey, and Azerbaijan took an aggressive position in relation to Armenia.

The federation expresses the hope that the government does not ignore this very clear statement of the parliament and implements it. Do not call historical events and not recognize them with genocide - absolutely incorrect conclusion.

Parliament, back in 2004, unanimously adopting the resolution of Raufut, recognized the Armenian Genocide. In the resolution facing the government, it was said: "With dialogue with Turkey or with communication within the framework of the European Union, the Government should clearly and constantly discuss the recognition of the Armenian Genocide." Later, in 2015, 2018, the parliament unequivocally recognized the Armenian Genocide.

The new resolution parliament states that it cannot agree with the current government approach.

During the Armenian Genocide and other Christian minorities, such as Assyrians, Aramey and Pontic Greeks, were also victims of massacres. They also hurt when the Dutch government does not fully recognize the genocide. "
