Astrophysicians were interested in strange features of Omumumua, unusual comets. Long-term observations have shown that the object entered the solar system at a lower speed than scientists were expected. He also had a flatter form compared to other objects.

Omumumua, though he pushed off the sun (the phenomenon is characteristic of comets due to the evaporation of ice under the influence of sunlight), but the push was stronger. Also not found gas remains, which are usually visible in the tail of the comet. Thus, Omumumua had a lot in common with a comet, but was not similar to any previously open comet.

Jackson and home suggested that the interstellar object consists of different ice. They conducted a lot of calculations and determined its shape, mass, reflectivity, the rate of ice sublimation. It was possible to establish that in the structure of the object, nitrogen is probably present - it is precisely it corresponds to all the characteristics of Omumuma.

It is known that nitrogen ice is on the surface of the pluto - the dwarf planet of the solar system. The researchers calculated, at what speed, the slices of nitrogen ice could take away from the surface of the pluto at the beginning of the formation of the solar system. In this way, they concluded that similar pieces could break away from the planet from another system and to achieve ours.

The assumption is put forward that Omumuma as part of the planet separated from it about 500,000,000 years ago as a result of some blow. So it was thrown out of the source system. The presence of solid nitrogen explains the unusual form of the object - he gradually evaporated, and Omumuma became more flat.

On August 30, 2019, another interstellar object was opened by an astronomer Borisov, who was assigned the name 2i / Borisov. It turned out to be a comet of a diameter of about 20 km with a small tail. Borisov found an object using a self-developed telescope. In the future, the presence of the comet was confirmed by professional telescopes.
