Today, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who arrived in our country with a working visit, reported in the foreign policy department of Turkmenistan.
The minister handed over the head of state greeting from President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyev.
During the conversation, an exchange of views took place on the progress of the practical implementation of agreements reached within the framework of the summit.
The head of the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan stressed that the constructive interstate dialogue relies on the trusting attitudes of the head of two states showing the political will to enhance multifaceted cooperation in the political, trade and economic, investment, communication, cultural and humanitarian and other fields. Interaction is supported in the framework of international and regional organizations.
Individual attention was paid to the prospects for the development of multilateral cooperation in Central Asia, the implementation of infrastructure and transport and communication projects to enter new regional markets.
The meeting also discussed other issues of mutual interest, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan reports.
It is appropriate to note that in 2020, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan grew by 8.6 percent.
In this context, a positive assessment was given to the activities of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Uzbek Commission on Trade and Economic, Scientific and Technological and Cultural Cooperation in the implementation of agreements achieved at various levels, as well as the Business Council "Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan", the first meeting of which took place in video connection mode October 7 last year.
The interlocutors made an emphasis on the importance of implementing joint large-scale infrastructure projects in the transport and communication sector, and, above all, to form a new transit corridor, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
