In the Grodno region recorded the growth of road accidents in which serious injuries are caused by children. So, over the past period of 2021, 4 such accidents recorded in the region, in one case the newborn kid died, and last year for the same period of time - 2, while the deaths were not fixed.

I would like to note that this year in three cases took place on pedestrians. Here, for example, on February 28 of this year, a 36-year-old man driving a Volkswagen car, moving along the courtyard territory in Grodno made a hit on a 6-year-old boy who ran out due to the parked car. As a result of an accident, a child causes grave injuries, the official representative of the UK in the Grodno region Maria Troshinskaya reported.

A similar case occurred in Grodno on the evening of March 12, where a 9-year-old boy was under the wheels of the car. As a result of hitting it, serious injuries are caused.

Another tragic case occurred in the islet. There, in the morning of March 11, a 44-year-old driver, driving a Volkswagen car, drove on a 11-year-old boy who crossed the road to an unregulated pedestrian crossing. From the scene of the affected child was hospitalized in the Sururgic office with numerous injuries.

In each case, a criminal case was initiated against the driver under Part 2 of Art. 317 (Violation of the rules of the road traffic, resulting in negligence causing grave injuries) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

The Investigation Committee once again reminds of the need to strictly comply with the rules of the road:
  • Going the roadway in the installed places, to the permissive traffic signal, while making sure that the drivers of vehicles before a pedestrian crossing reduced the speed and fulfill the requirement to "give way to the road";
  • Use the reflective elements in the dark;
  • When entering the roadway due to a vehicle or other obstacles that limit the driver's review, additionally make sure that there are no vehicles moving in your direction;
  • Observe the rules of the road, including high-speed mode;
  • When accompanied by children, it is necessary to take all possible measures to prevent their independent exit to the roadway;
  • Cut with your children conversations about road safety.
