Russian fish business can change markets, if China does not open ports, writes TASS.

The work of Russian companies selling fish largely depends on the resumption of deliveries to China. If this does not happen in the next two weeks, enterprises will have to look for other sales paths, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries Fisheries Vasily Sokolov said on Friday during a press approach at the International Scientific Conference dedicated to Salmon.

"We are ready to resume the supply of fish to China at any time, after a few days the celebration of the Chinese New Year ends, we expect that this will give a certain revival. If the ports open, it means everything will be settled. If the ports do not open in the next one or two weeks, it will mean a long-term trend, and the business will definitely need to look for any other sales paths, "Sokolov told.

He said that China's challenge brought significant difficulties, but Russia sees the opportunity to concentrate on the territory of the country.

"China closed not only for Russia. It should be understood that all countries got under it. The ports of China are closed for fish frozen not only our country, but also Vietnam, Korea and others. This is not a specific measure for Russia. We do not regard this as a targeted desire to reduce the price of Mintai, "added Sokolov.

In the PRC, about 70% of the total Russian exports of fish, fish products and seafood were supplied.

At the end of September last year, Rosselkhoznadzor received several official notifications from China that traces of coronavirus infection were found on packaging of fish products. Because of this, China has limited the import of fish products, and later the Chinese side tightened quarantine measures, and the only open Chinese port stopped receiving export cargo.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation - Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in DFO Yuri Trutnev instructed in this situation to work out the issue of increasing the volume of fish products processing by Far Eastern enterprises.
