In 2020, over 67% of the budget of the region was sent to the social factor. The social orientation of the budget will continue in 2021, the chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Vladimir Krachank told reporters today.
Today at the meeting of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee considered the results of the execution of the budget and the socio-economic development of the region in 2020, and also identified plans for 2021, BelTA correspondent reports.
"In 2020, the budget of the region was completed with the surplus. Revenues exceeded the cost of BR29 million. This made it possible to fulfill all the credit obligations, to create an airbag at the beginning of this year. But the most important thing is that budget revenues allowed us to finance all social obligations and fulfill the Gosinvest Program for the construction of housing and infrastructure facilities. At the same time, 67.7% of the budget was sent to the social factor - health, education, culture and sports, "said Vladimir Kracanik.
He stressed that the social orientation of the budget of the region will be preserved this year. In order to continue to fulfill social obligations, it was noted at the meeting of the Executive Committee, it is necessary to ensure the growth of the real sector of the economy.
In 2020, despite difficult circumstances, in the region managed to prevent the fall of the economy. The gross regional product has developed at the level of 100.1% compared to 2019.
"Agriculture worked well. The results of the work of this industry to some extent compensated for the fall in the service sector and transport. Not bad growth showed industry. Now the main task is to analyze the directions where there is a decline. At the same time, it is impossible to write off everything with a pandemic, it is necessary to identify flaws that can be fixed in 2021, "said Vladimir Kracanik.
He told about the main tasks for the current year. First of all, it is necessary to involve direct foreign investment in the regional economy, as well as the implementation of infrastructure projects to modernize the production of the fields, in particular, investment projects in Grodno Nitrogen and in the spheres of woodworking and processing. Also among the tasks - ensuring further growth in the production of animal husbandry and crop production.
This year, it is planned to build new kindergartens and schools, reconstruct and modernize medical institutions in the area. The design of a new hospital will also begin.
Large plans to improve road infrastructure in the region. Including it is planned to start the reconstruction of the M7 highway, put into operation a new bridge over Neman in Grodno, the active repair of local roads will continue. All this is a contribution to the future. It is expected that the restrictions caused by a pandemic in the world will begin to decline, which means that the transport and logistics industry will be promoted to the region.
In this regard, the construction industry should also become one of the driver's economy drivers. It is planned to preserve the rates of housing.
